Hi Cookie and Sarah,
WOW you two are really on the ball with this project. Great! I too have a package that needs to go. I'll have to hit the web site again. That was one of the things that I had saved in a special file in my old computer. Slowly I will get everything again. I also will call Kathy. Maybe she can lay her hands on it quicker than I can. But I will get it.
Sarah, how did your meeting with the commander go? Any luck on their support?
Bob and I are hosting the commissary Christmas party this year, and instead of a gift exchange everyone has been asked to bring a donation of something from our list. So hopefully I will get another box of stuff. Raleigh has told his boss at the hotel about what we're doing and she is going to give us things every so often. Well ladies I have to run and get some dinner. Keep up the good work the two of you are doing. And the rest of you ladies - let's get busy and help with this project. Don't forget about our recipes too. We are still in need of more.
B. :D ;) :o :!angel: :!clap: :!inlove:

Barb,
I have not heard from anyone as of yet, so I'm gonna fly blind into the Cmdr's office today. I do hope that what I've learned so far is enough to get me on the ground running. I also hope I make no mistakes. At our meeting in D.C., I volunteered for this and I'm gonna keep my word.
Anyone who has started an Angel Box, feel free to send them to me to be shipped over seas. I also have a ledger to keep record if they prefer to send money instead of shipping boxes to me to be shipped. Kinda of redundant and more expensive in the long run. I will do everything in my power to make this a success. I know moral will greatly improve, and all our soldiers can always use a boost. Please ladies wish me luck!!
Sarah Belcher

Barb,
Guess I,m on a roll. I don't have any e-mail addresses yet, so this is my only connection right now.
I have a total of 6 nieces that are active duty and overseas right now, so I have spent a lot of time.asking questions about what they'd like to have that they can not get over there.
Everyone of them said they wanted things like good shampoos, conditioners, body washes,(makeup (not practical)things that would make them feel like they are back in the world. They also said real toilet paper. The most common remark on that is that the Army uses sandpaper and they are supposed to like it. I thought it was funny at first...till I remembered my own stint in the Army.
Anyway, when I go to Fort Story, I'm going to make sure to get a list of things we CANNOT send. I know there is a list but I don't know what they are. But that we need to know. Also, I was advised that it would be best if we picked a unit or larger, rather than individuals. The women are a group, not individuals and we definately don't want to cause any drama. We don't want anyone to be left out, and feel unimportant. We also need to remember that our soldiers are a diverse group, so we'd need to send things that can be used by each ethnic group.
Anyway, any thoughts before I go to Fort Story would be awesome.
I already have 12 med size boxes that need to be filled, so let me know what you want me to do.
Thanks, Sarah44614

Admin reply: WOW are you on a roll. You're thinking of things neither Kathy nor I have thought of. Good job. I think you and Cookie need to get your thoughts together and come up with a campaign to get these ladies motivated. I'm excited about you talking to the commander. Let me know what he thinks and says. Are your nieces all stationed together or near each other? I think it would be great if maybe we adopted one of their units. I think it would be nicer if we or someone knew a person personally. I have some stuff here that needs to be put together and mailed. And our office Christmas party this year is having eberyone bring something for a box instead of a gift exchange, I'll mail that stuff too. Hope this ALL goes over well.
I'll try to send you some information today. I guess you know my computer died. My table collapsed and it hit the floor 'hard'. Died an instant death. I lost everything.!!
Well, almost time for everyone to be getting up. I've been up for hours. Don't s;eep much, about every three nights or so. At least going to lay down for awhile.
:p
