11th Cav Members Bulletin Board

My brother, Sergeant Robert I. Meeker, was KIA on Feb. 18, 1969 (L TRP, 3RD SQDN, 11TH ARMORED CAVALRY). I was 11 years old at the time (now 55). I am wondering if any of his fellow soldiers can share details of the circumstances of his fatality. Of course, we have the official account from the Army, but I've been told many of those during the Vietnam War were inaccurate or simply fabricated. I hope that's not the case. Bobby received the Silver Star posthumously, so I am very interested in the actions he took to qualify for that honor. I'm also interested in any recollections any soldiers who knew him may have of him as a person and leader. Bobby was a troubled guy who found some sense of direction in the Army. I have no doubt he would've been a lifer in the service if he had lived. I'd be grateful for any info people can share. Thanks to all the heroes of the 11th Cav.

I'm trying to locate the daughter or widow (her name is Leslie A. Hays)of Captain John H. Hays (KIA 11/68) of B Troop. I know that they used to live in Winter Haven, FL. Also, I think the daughter had posted on the guestbook about 8 years ago, but I can't be sure about that. Does anybody have any info on/about them? Please let me know. Thanks.

I seem to recall a 'Doc Taylor' from the 70-71 time period. Were you with us to see Bob Hope at Long Binh (Christmas show IIRC)?

Has anyone been back to see what became of those places?
Tan Uyen is supposed to be a major river port/industrial estate.

Those who know the history of the Viet Nam vets, will not be able
to keep a dry eye.

It is worth watching. Two and a half minutes long.

Does anyone recognize this VN Vet....Look at the tatoo on his arm..

Inscribed on Vietnam Memorial monument in Buffalo, NY.

THEY ANSWERED WHEN CALLED
ASKED FOR LITTLE AND GOT LESS:
AND MADE US POORER FOR THEIR PASSING
BUT RICHER FOR THEIR SACRIFICE.

IN REMEMBERING THE DEAD
WE EMBRACE THE LIVING:
FOR WE OUGHT TO REMEMBER
BETTER THAN WE DO.
